This shape was designed for a very intimate, close feel against the body - the narrow waist and lower bout lay low in the lap for seated playing, and minimize the weight when standing up.

This body shape fits best with shorter 21-22 fret necks. The hanging points are actually quite similar to many well-known instruments, but without the extra width (and weight).

The Sylph shape also offers excellent balance, and is an excellent choice for an extremely lightweight body wood, since the design will compensate and offset any potential "neck dive".

Available in 4-string or 5-string.

Sylph 4-string, Flame Walnut
This beautiful Sylph 4-string is one of several built in this exact configuration - each one has been a beauty!

The Walnut body is capped with an unusually light-colored, almost pinkish Flame Walnut top. This plank of Walnut has a very iridescent quality - it changes with light. The walnut headpiece is matched to the body, front and back.

The two-tone Katalox fingerboard is lined fretless. A close look reveals a special touch - the fretlines change color to contrast with each side of the fingerboard! This neck also features the "Deco"-style side dot markers. A quartersawn 3-piece maple neck assures stiffness and a clean, tight sound.

The 33" scale makes this bass effortless to play. Citron pickups and a custom passive circuit give all the tonal variety one could ever need, with total hum-canceling in all positions.

This photo series is a bit more "natural"...
